Solar Batteries
Solar Batteries: Store the Energy You Produce
Solar batteries allow you to store the energy generated by your solar panels, so you can use it any time. Create peace of mind with backup power for grid-tie systems, or enjoy total energy independence with a battery bank that will fully power an off-grid lifestyle.

Types of Solar Batteries
The solar batteries featured on this page are used to provide backup power to grid-tie homes in case of power outages. They are also suitable to provide a complete, sustainable energy storage solution to power fully off-grid properties.
In either case, lithium batteries are the gold standard in the solar industry, used in more than 90% of our installations. Here's a quick breakdown of battery types, explaining why lithium is so common.
Lithium (LiFePO4) Batteries
Compared to other battery types, Lithium batteries are more efficient, have a longer lifespan, and are easiest to install, charge, and maintain - with almost zero maintenance requirements to speak of.
Lithium used to be the "premium" option, but thanks to swift advancements in the technology, it's now the most cost effective, too. We almost always recommend lithium batteries for new solar projects.
AGM Batteries
Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries are a sealed battery which can be mounted in any orientation. AGM batteries are notable for performing in very cold temperatures, so you might choose AGM over lithium in sub-freezing environments where it's not possible to warm the battery enclosure.
Flooded Lead-Acid Batteries
Flooded lead-acid batteries have traditionally been a decent entry-level option, with a lower up-front cost, but regular maintenance requirements and a much shorter lifespan. However, flooded batteries have basically fallen out of use in the solar industry since lithium prices have fallen to match them, and lithium technology is better in every way.
We would only recommend flooded batteries if you run into compatibility issues expanding an existing flooded lead-acid battery bank.
