New Look for SolarTown Learning Center: Learn the Ins and Outs of Solar Policy and Solar Energy Products

102.jpgOne of our primary goals at SolarTown is to educate consumers on solar energy in general and solar energy products in particular. We know that you have perused the over thousand solar energy products that we are selling. We hope that you have also spent some time at SolarTown’s Learning Center to learn about solar power products.

If you are like most consumers, you can get a lot of information about picking out a standard refrigerator for your kitchen, but if you are thinking of getting a solar refrigerator for your cabin, you may want to read some of the learning articles about the Solar Outdoors. We talked with a customer last year who purchased a solar fridge, but neglected to purchase the other component parts to make it work. Yes, you will need not only the solar refrigerator, but also a charge controller, battery and solar panel.  And if you do forget to buy all of the component parts, we are now offering an AC adaptor.

We know that our customers like our Learning Center, but as the number of articles has ballooned, it has become more unwieldy to navigate. We have put in a new interface to allow you to click on the category that you are looking for. So in this case, if you are looking for articles on solar ovens or solar freezers, you can click on Solar Outdoors in the Learning Center and you can find all of our articles on solar outdoor products such as solar fridges, solar showers and solar backpacks.

Our most popular selections in the SolarTown Learning Center are the Solar Panel Category and Solar Policy and Incentives.  If you are a homeowner looking to hire an installer for your solar energy system, or if you are a DIYer, or even if you are a contractor, you will find articles that will give you some guidance on solar panel systems.  The Solar Panel section has articles on a Guide to Solar PanelsSolar TrackersSolar InvertersSolar Racking, and probably our most popular article on Comparing Solar Modules. Before you ask a question, you may want to do your preliminary research from these articles and we can help you or you can post on the Solar Forum that SolarTown sponsors to get more information.

Our section on Solar Policy and Incentives has become very popular. In many of the learning articles, we have tried to summarize some of the major incentives that you should be looking at when you consider purchasing or leasing your solar panel system. And we also consider what may seem mundane, like homeowners’ battling with their homeowner associations—until you are in the battle. We try to introduce you to some very important concepts such as Net Metering and Grid Parity.

We hope that you will be able to find what you need to know quickly, and please give us your feedback on our new SolarTown Learning Center.
