New Community Center at SolarTown

If you have relied on SolarTown’s Community Center for access to important information about the solar energy industry, then you will love the new look that we now have at our Solar Community.96.jpg

We have added to our section on solar videos. And as before, if you are looking for videos on one particular product category such as those videos on solar water heaters, then you can sort to find just the solar videos on solar water heaters. If you have videos that you would like to share with us, we’ll review them and post those that we think will be of some interest to the SolarTown community.

And that is just the beginning of our grand tour of our new solar community. We keep a posting of the major solar events coming up over the next several months. We must confess that when we are still working out what criteria we should use to post the events. If there is a local event just for Washington, DC, we may not want to post it. Similarly if there is an event for the solar community in China, and yes, we do get lots of notices of this or that solar event in China, we generally do not post the announcement.

We are community primarily serving the U.S. market, although we get visitors from throughout the world. We can get real time information on who is visiting Solartown, and just the other day, I was curious and saw that there were visitors from Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Malta and even the U.S.

We suspect that those folks not in the U.S. are spending more time on our product pages and the SolarTown Learning Center, and that they are not going to look at our community page to find out what is going on in their countries. If you have a solar event coming up in your region or city, please send it to us and we will consider posting it.

SolarTown is involved in a number of initiatives and we use the community page to talk about how SolarTown has been involved in the community. We have not been as diligent in updating these pages over the last several months, but that is not to say that SolarTown has not been involved. SolarTown is involved with a number of organizations and the president of SolarTown sits on the board of the Mid Atlantic Solar Energy Society.

The SolarTown blog gets a lot of attention. As the posts have grown in number over the past several years, we have categorized them by subject matter.  So if you are looking for what we have had to say about solar energy products on our blog, all you need to do is click on the link for solar energy products, and presto, all of our entries on solar energy products will appear. Our blog was hard to find before, and now since so many of you are reading our blog entries, we have reformatted the blog on our community page so that you can find it easily.

Solar News may be our most popular community section. There are many other news sites that give you good daily coverage. We pick out the most important news stories that are relevant to our readers and aggregate them in a news story. What we try to do is to read the stories from the media that may offer differing views on the same news story and then quote from each article to give our readers a taste of what is going on and how those events are being perceived. We try to run one or two stories a week.

We also now have links to Solar Panel Talk, the Solar Forum  that SolarTown sponsors.  Most of our customers can find the answers that they are looking for on the Forum, but if there are product specific questions, then you can always Ask a Solar Expert at SolarTown.

We are also proud of a sister site that we put together for kids and their parents and teachers, which we call SolarTownKids.  You can click on a link on our Community Page and get right to SolarTownKids to learn about solar projects for your school.

Whatever your needs or if you just want to say hello and troll the Community Center, please do stop by and say hello or you can visit SolarTown on Facebook or Twitter. However you connect with SolarTown, we are happy that you are part of SolarTown’s community.
